Letting Yourself Want
Desire, dream and manifest.
I turned 40 this year and something caught fire.
I spent the first half of the year building The Gilbert Resonance Model, giving shape to my own methodology and how I work with people, and I started speaking from that place as The Resonance Grove. Those months took everything I had and I gave it willingly.
When summer came, I slowed waaaaaaayyyyy down. I simplified what I needed and what I wanted. I returned to nature. I watched my tomatoes grow. I experienced an owl land on the table outside of my garden window and look straight into my soul. I frolicked and laughed and cooked and ate (many, many tomatoes). And I felt a weight settling down.
A few weeks ago I noticed I wanted something again, and that familiar sense of fire started to grow. I want more. I want to work with more people, I want to coach more, I want to teach more yoga, I want to diversify my offerings. I want more. Because I love my work and I am devoted to bringing transformation to anyone and everyone I work with.
In the middle of the wanting, I thought: do I have the energy for this amount of wanting?
I never decided against the want, but my mind started to question the want and rationalize it away with a reason that’s hard to argue with: energy levels. It’s a legitimate reason.
If a client told me this, I would slow her down and ask what she values most. Whether leaving the want alone serves those values better than pursuing it. Either answer is legitimate.
So we start here, with the simplest and least comfortable instruction I know.
Want the thing. Just for a moment. Before the reasons arrive not to. And ask yourself:
What do I want for myself today and for myself tomorrow?
This is the beginning of a four-part arc, Letting Yourself Want. The Resonance Grove moves to every two weeks from here, so each edition has a little more room to breathe. As always, each one builds on the last and you have access to all previous newsletters in our archive.
What’s your biggest want right now? I’d love to hear from you. I read and respond to every email I receive.
With warmth & gratitude,
